PROJECT BIG BANG
| 16/09/2007 | to | 05/10/2007 |

Project Big Bang includes new media art research, workshops, forums and a group exhibition.
Workshop 1: Alien recalled
Artists: Amy CHEUNG, Joseph CHAN, Annie HO
This workshop was a human laboratory of Joseph’s simulation world. An identical workshop was presented twice, once to a group of children (age 7 -12) and once to elderly citizens (age 50 - 65), including games to explore their responses towards alien; the ways in which they “teach”, “accommodate” and “communicate” with them. Finally we find out how age as a factor, can influence individual’s mind map of alien and outer space.
Workshop 2: Space-age homemaker a total alien dream
Artist: Maggie HUI
Through playing simple acting games, female homemakers/species from local community are invited to present their feelings of know how memories/home/future’s complex relationship constitutes one’s intangible spatial experience of everyday life.
Workshop 3: Perhaps
Artists: Mark FELL, Kwan NG
A workshop based on a visual programming language for interactive and algorithmic artworks. Here the processes used in such artworks are explored outside the confines of the computer screen.
Artist Talk 1: Searching individual spatiality, at home from home
Speaker: Maggie HUI
Looking at each of ourselves as an individual unit as a start, to explore our body-space relationship in everyday Hong Kong home living experience.
Artist Talk 2: Alien calls a baby; recalls a granny
Speakers: Amy CHEUNG, Joseph CHAN, Annie HO
We will share our experiences in doing the same workshops with 2 different groups of citizens: children
and elderly, we aim to present research on how memory can affect one’s behavior and one’s
consciousness towards tangible space, according to age.
Artist Talk 3: Visualizing Lifetime Financials
Speaker: WONG Lai Yan
We will discuss the learnings from interviews conducted in “Abduction sessions” held earlier this year.
Rather than budgeting our expenses according to how much we earn, we can reverse our thinking, and determine how much we need to earn in order to achieve the kind of life we want.
Artist Talk 4: Media Art… to be continued
Speaker: IP Yuk Yiu
This forum will round up the project and audience can discuss all aspects of the work with participating
artists.
